Moreton in the Marsh Meet - 20th - 22nd May 2011
26 units and 40 members, a variety of cats and dogs and the lovely Evie (Glen and Claire's daughter) descended on Fosseway Farm, Moreton in the Marsh for our biggest meet so far. There were a variety of units including lots of different Romahomes, a Romini, other motorhomes and caravans, we had a huge rally field all to ourselves and the weather all though a little windy at times was fine with sunny intervals.
There were some early arrivals but the majority arrived on Friday, when people arrived they were met by the Meet Organiser Ian Stockley who expertly guided them to their pitch and made sure they were settled.
On Friday night the majority of people attended a BBQ hosted by Glen and Claire who brought their gas BBQ. Glen was kept busy cooking a variety of sausages, burgers, kebabs and chicken while the rest of us lounged about drinking a variety of alcoholic beverages and chatting. Glen had a huge awning on his caravan and Penny and Derek had brought another big awning so there was shelter from the troublesome wind and this is where the elite of the meet sat whilst the rabble were sat outside. A great time was had by all and everyone eventually wandered off to their units with full tummies and happy smiling faces.
Saturday we all did our own thing, John (Sanjuan) very kindly lead a walk over the fields to nearby Stowe, some less energetic people relaxed on site whilst others explored the delights of Moreton in the Marsh which was a 5 minute walk away. Sadly due to a family emergency Barbara and Audrey had to leave early and had to miss the meal on the Saturday night which was attended by the majority. The meal was at the nearby Swan Inn in Moreton, a lovely meal was followed by a game of skittles in which the boys challenged the girls. Sadly for the girls the boys were on top form and despite the efforts of Two Litre who seemed to think that the object was to miss the skittles, the boys trounced the girls by a huge margin. (See the picture proof below for any disbelievers). A notably perfomance was put in by John (Sanjuan) who won the accolade of the being the highest scorer on the night. The evening was over all too soon and we all went back to the campsite for a good nights sleep.
Sunday it was time to say goodbye and after struggling to take various awnings down in the strengthening wind, the majority of people went home after what was a lovely meet. Some stayed on for an extra night or two.
