Kingsbury Meet - 8th - 10th April 2016

22 units and 33 members, several dogs, and Barney the travelling cat joined up for a lovely meet at the Kingsbury C&CC site arranged by Ian and Sue. The weather was a bit of a mixed bag, with lovely sunshine on Friday, dry Saturday morning but raining in the afternoon and then dry and sunny again on Sunday so not too bad really.

We (Graham and Pauline) arrived around 1.30pm to find that quite a few people had already arrived, the holiday site manager commented that the Small Motorhome meet gets bigger every year! Friday was a day of greeting old friends and new ones with lots of chat around the vans. Later the chip van came and quite a few people took advantage of not having to cook.

On Saturday morning several people took advantage of the traffic free paths around the park and either got out their bikes and cycled or had a walk around the lovely nature reserve. It was a bit muddy under foot but pleasant non the less. One or two people ventured down to the cafe to sample their cooked breakfast. In the afternoon the rain started so people mostly retreated to their vans for a lazy afternoon.

Saturday night was the night of the pub meal at the Dog and Doublet, it was a pleasant walk down the canal and by the time we got there the rain had stopped, as usual the tables had been reserved for us and we took over half the pub, the food was good and the service was very quick to say how many people descended on them at once. There was lots of chatter and laughter amongst the assembled company and everyone appeared to enjoy it, soon it was time to go back to the campsite and retire to our vans to sleep off our excesses, thankfully the walk back was dry.

Sunday was again a lovely day so it was good that folk could stroll around chatting at each others vans before it was time for most to head off either home or to pastures new in their vans. A few decided to make the most of the good weather and stay on for another day.
