The First Ever Meet

Chipping Norton - October 2006

The weekend started well with most of us arriving mid afternoon Friday. We had a good natter and shared ideas about vans and watched with interest and offered encouraging remarks as some began setting up their awning.

In the evening some walked to the local pub along a very dark and long country lane! Some stayed behind to do their own thing.

Saturday morning we all caught the bus into Chipping Norton. The local council, obviously having heard that some of us did not do walking and had very kindly located the bus stop immediately outside the site!

A pleasant walk around Chipping Norton stopping for various treats such a coffee, cake or chips before catching the bus back to the site.

In the afternoon some of us set off for a stroll of around 4 miles along the lovely footpaths which pass the site. Others did their own thing such as staying on site and visitng local villages.

Another member arrived in the afternoon so a good natter was on the cards again. In the evening some walked to the pub again for a meal while others stayed on site and did their own thing.

Sunday we woke to beautiful sunshine and enjoyed a mini tour of all the vans taking in their different qualities.A good time was had by all.

Devizes, Wiltshire. March 2007

Eleven units and 20 members met at the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Devizes and a good time was had by all! Unit types ranged from various Romahomes to Bongo and Auto Sleeper.

Weather was reasonable for the time of year and some of us were able to have a pleasant walk up the Caen Flight of locks to a nice tea shop at the top, approx. 3 mile round trip. Well done to Niqk the dog for making it all the way!

Most folk arrived Friday afternoon and after setting up and a nice chat popped along to the local pub for a drink after tea.

Saturday some walked to the tea shop and back with some continuing into Devizes, while others did their own thing visiting local attractions.

Saturday afternoon two more units arrived, so there was more chatting as the weather turned very blustery and wet!

Saturday evening some of us went along to the local pub for the pre-arranged evening meal kindly arranged (but not paid for!) by John and Wendy. Fine food and good company made it a lovely pleasant evening. Photos from the meet - click for larger images

Hayfield, Derbyshire July 2007

6 units and 10 members met at the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Hayfield in Derbyshire gate crashing Tim and Kris's holiday!!

As usual a good time was had by all! Unit types were all Romahomes ranging from C15 to Dimension

Weather had been wet in the previous week, but (as promised by Pauline!) the sun shone and we were able to sit outside for a chat.

Saturday we walked up to the local pub - The Sportsman, where we enjoyed a lovely meal and homemade cake, (thanks Joan) complete with birthday candle to celebrate the Forum's 1st birthday in May.

Wolverley, Worcestershire March 2008

Twelve units and 21 members met at the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Wolverley, near Kidderminster, Worchestershire.

Weather was wet! But Saturday morning was dry enough for some of us to have a pleasant walk along the canal, others chose to stay on site, some had visitors some went futther afield. There was a nice tea shop close to the site and a lovely pub in the village.

The campsite manager very kindly allowed us to use the recreation room so that we could all get together and Friday night we enjoyed various cakes and took along our own wine, tea, coffee etc.

Saturday evening most went along to the local pub and had a meal, again we were given a room so that we could all sit together for a chat while eating.

Sunday morning we again met in the recreation room for a coffee, more cakes and chat before the majority set off home, some stayed for a few more days......... on site that is, not eating cake!
