Default Festivals Anyone?

Snowdrop's going to Glastonbury again. That's the only one we've booked so far, where is everyone else off to?

Glastonbury is too big for me!! Myself and a friend prefer the smaller, quieter ones (if you can call them quieter! LOL) and we're off to the second Moira Furnace Festival in August! Check out the prices for the weekend!

Glastonbury - maybe one day, although I understand it's very difficult to get tickets?

I go to Cropredy every year with camping friends:

And I've been to the Shrewsbury Folk Festival (formerly Bridgnorth) 3 times, but won't be going this year.

Thanks Jayjay I hadn't heard of that one. We also like the smaller, 'boutique' ones, eg Larmer Tree, End of The Road and Rhythym. The last of those is easiest for you, in Bedfordshire. Still a fair way I suppose; what do you tow with?

It's difficult, yes, but register for them, log on to the website on the appointed day and just get ready to retry-click lots!!

We'd like to do Cropedy but being self-employed the Thurs-Sat format puts me off.

Have you been to Cambridge, too? I'd like to try a differnt folk festival this year, I wasn't that taken by Cambs.

I have Kip caravan towed by a Nissan Almera 1600 auto. Well, I will do when I get around to getting it all working and hooking it up and giving it a go! LOL!!

I think the only festival we'll be getting to will be Glastonbudget again. We've been for the last few years and always have a great time. Its basically a tribute festival but also has 2 or 3 other stages with unsigned bands, some of which are amazing.

That's the advantage of being self employed, I can jiggle the work round to take the Thursday & Friday off - in my previous job it would have been nigh on impossible unless I took it as part of my summer fortnight, as otherwise it would have clashed with other staff's main holidays and wouldn't have been allowed.

I've never been to Cambridge - someone a few years back said don't bother, it's far too crowded.

My friend's son and his band were on at Glastonbudget last year and the year before - they're pretty good.

What is the bands name? We might have seen them!! Are they auditioning again this year??

The festival organisation always seems terrible and this year looks just as bad but it seems to come good in the end!

I was at Whitby and Bromyard last year - both good festivals. Will do Whitby again this year but not booked anything else yet. Enjoy the music everyone !

Yeah, I remember them, they were one of the best unsigned bands. Wish them luck for this year.

Default Glastonbury

Hi, I'm Jill,
I think I read an article about Snowdrop and was so inspired that I rushed out and bought my first solo camper van. It's been in the garage all winter but successfully booked Glastonbury which is also my first festival. Absolutely ecstatic to get a ticket - as a technophobic. .
Will look out for Snowdrop.

Glastonbudget does look good, I'd love to go, but I have a feeling it clashes with GlastoGoodValueButNotBudget :-). Maybe for a year where we fail to get Glasto tickets!

Hi Jill

Sorry for the late reply. That's nice to hear, about our little article, and what campervan did you get?

It is wonderful the difference between tenting at Glasto, with all the physical difficulty of lugging things through mud that that entailed and using a campervan. It's nice to have a relatively civilised 'home' to get back to at the end of the day.

You have to do a lot of clicking on the website to get a ticket don't you!

Marc

Default festivals

Hi. Last year we went to the Summer Sundae festival in Leicster which we enjoyed, but we had a Bongo then. This year we are going in the Romahome to the Orwell Bluegrass Festival which is near Ipswich in April. Then to the Maverick Americana festival in July. This is also near Ipswich. We have decided not to go to any of the big ones this year, although I do recommend the Green Man festival in Wales. It is in a beautiful location and has a good variety of music. Unfortunately when we went it rained hard and the site turned into a swamp, which has put us off going again.

Regards, Colin
