    Default I Have A Romini!

If you have a Romini Caravan, how about adding your name and caravan number along with (vague) details of your location? Let's find out how many of us are on here.
Niloc is compiling a list in an endeavour to find the oldest known Romini and perhaps to find out how many have survived and how many were made.
Maybe we can help him out.

I will try to collate the list from time to time.

    1. Twolitre - Jim Romini No. 199 located Derbyshire.

I've got one as well, not sure how to work out the numbers on the hinge though.
    I'm located in West Berksire.

As I understand it Pete, reading down on the left - the last two numbers are the year of manufacture (in my case 88 = 1988). On the right reading down is the number in the production line.
The first number on the left has been variously suggested as the month of manufacture, but 7 seems so common I have my doubts. Others suggest it is the number of significant changes since first introduction - decor etc.
There are several hinge pictures and comments elsewhere early in the Romini Section.
These numbers seem to be often repeated on the top of the top of the wardrobe door (mirror needed?) and on the drawbar, though mine has neither of these.
    Jim.

    My one is No. 186
Residing in Royal Berkshire. Bought in Belgium and it looks like it might have been made for the export market.

    Default I've got one too!

I managed to purchase a Romini last month, not intentionally though, at the time I was looking for an Eriba Puck but i'm happy now that I didn't find a Puck and have got "Arfur" instead. I had managed to chase of the traders with a promise from the seller of a "first refusal" to me, a 100 or so miles and a pocket full of cash, and guess what!!!! I had it less than a week and was offered nearly £2000 for it, I just won't and couldn't sell Arfur, I would also have to look far and wide to get anything nearly as cute and good. My chassis number is "073" and the year of manufacture is 1985, which is the same year as my Talbot Samba cabrio', a nice combination if I say so myself. I hope we can find more to join us, all the best, Andy

    Default 1st Collation.

I have done one before, but it seems to have disappeared into the wide blue yonder! Unless of course I inadvertantly posted it in the wrong thread

1 Twolitre Jim 199 Derbyshire. *latest so far.
    2 MayfairPete Pete 186 Berkshire
3 Pam Park Pam 114 Northumberland
    4 Romengacord ???? 161 Kent
5 AndyB Andy 073 Stoke on Trent * earliest so far.
    6 Sobby 2771 Siobahn 146 Stockport
    7 G4MJW ???? ??? Essex.
    8 Goro ???? ??? Northumberland?
    9 momantai ???? ??? Berkshire.
    Seagrub ????????????
Not a bad start. I will fill in any missing info. if and when I get it.

PLEASE! Can we confine posts on this thread to the matter in hand? I imagine everyone trying to keep a list for a meet, or like this, hits the same problem. It entails sifting through lots of inconsequential posts to find relevent data. Obviously we want to welcome newcomers etc., but please keep such entries short. I hope I have not offended anyone, but when I organised the Chesterfield meet I ended up starting a new thread to try to control essential input. Not very successfully!
    Grumpy old Jim!

GORO in Northumberland is number 183. Mine has the number 787 which looks like it was made in 87. oddly, Tom Carlisle from Newcastle has the same number. You work it out.

I believe the 787 means it was the 7th model Romini made in 1987. The other number on the hinge is the number of the individual caravan.

I have always thought the first of those 3 numbers was the Model. Probably counting when something was changed. For example the upholstery.
That has been challenged in some posts, but I think all the later year numbers are preceded by 7. Perhaps pictures of those with a different number could be compared to confirm it. Particularly interior pictures.
Certainly, they could not have built all the later ones in July!
I think we all agree that the latter 2 numbers are the are the year of the '90s decade.

I have added what I have found or been told of. I might just have missed some. More information on some will be welcome. I have also added year of manufacture where I can.

Please feel free to add to or modify this list by using "copy and paste" to a new "reply". Or alternatively post your info on here and I will try to get round to adding it.
We now know of the existence of about 8% of the production. Though 1% belong to Siobahn! Lets keep going! We might monopolise the Forum unless Graham and Pauline expel us.

These postings are making me chuckle
Trouble is its probably true... Good job they didn't really change the design in the five years of production....
I have models with different doors
