The site enjoys a great hilltop location, with beautiful views over the lakes. There were no hardstanding spots when we arrived, but there was a large grassy field with plenty of space to choose from. Check-in was quick & easy, and the staff friendly. The toilet blocks were clean and functional, although there was a charge for the showers (because the site's up a hill it isn't on the mains water supply). The local pub is nice, with a fully vegetarian menu (perfect for a veggie like me!), but beware they only serve food until 8pm. It was a bit of a hike into town to find somewhere else to eat, and we opted for a taxi to bring us back up the hill. An onsite shop sells hot & cold filled rolls and packed lunchdes for hillwalking & days out. The site is a great base for exploring the Lake District, there's a stone circle very close by and lots of great scenery and tourist attractions nearby. A nice site, and definitely worth visiting again. | ||
